VENUE

EXPERIENCE

We are having our Indian garden wedding at Nikita's family home. It has always been Nikita's sanctuary and favourite place. Her parents have always been so welcoming to me to so I also now have great memories there too. Nikita's older sister had her Indian ceremony here as well, so it has become a bit of a family tradition.

Our Indian garden wedding scheme is the traditional white, red and gold. Both of our outfits have lots of sparkle! We had a great time choosing these from Alankar in Rusholme. For our guests we have asked that they either wear Indian dress as well, or if they prefer then more traditional formal attire, but that it is bright and colourful!

ATTIRE + ACCESSORIES

STORY

Our story is truly a work romance. We met at Barnet Hospital during our foundation training. Initially this was crossing over during night shifts and on calls. We were literally ships in the night exchanging a few reassuring words. We moved onto A&E, this time working the same shifts together, and we instantly hit it off. It's quite a sociable working environment and you bond in a certain way going through similar experiences, shared trauma etc. This meant we got to know each other well very quickly. Because of COVID we stayed on this job for longer than planned, and we grew closer and closer, becoming best friends. Soon we were inseparable both in and out of work.

Currently we are both GPs working in Islington. Outside of this we really enjoy spending time with friends and family and getting away on holiday as much as possible!

Nikita is planning to wear lots of bangles, large earrings, a tikka (forehead chain), a large choker style necklace and a bindi. There is also a special necklace called the Mangalsutra which is a significant part of the ceremony where I will present this to Nikita. We haven't done bridesmaids and groomsmen but some family will be walking Nikita down the aisle. They will be dressed in a mix of colours but without any specific theme.

We are having a marquee in the garden and will use the reception room that backs onto the garden, hopefully it creates an intimate, indoor/outdoor style. The garden itself is inspired by holidays to South East Asia and has little nods to this throughout. We will be serving Indian food buffet style with beer/wine/champagne free flowing! We have arranged drummers for my entrance, a saxophonist to play during cocktail hour and then a silent disco.

HONEYMOON

PROPOSAL

We will be staying in Crete for a couple of weeks after our legal wedding in September. Greece is a place close to our hearts as we have been on holiday there a few times and we got engaged in Santorini.

I proposed in Santorini. We had been on a friend's holiday in Ibiza the week preceding, so I had hidden the ring inside a sunglasses case and it was in the safe with all of our friend's valuables, without any of them knowing. Even during long conversations late into the night I was able to keep my plan a secret. We travelled directly from Ibiza to Athens but at the airport our flight was cancelled. There was pandemonium in the airport with everyone scrabbling for remaining flights. Very sleep deprived by this point, I was too terrified of falling asleep with the engagement ring in my bag! We eventually worked out getting a ferry to Palma overnight to then fly to Athens from there the next day. We decided to spend the morning on the beach in Palma, I thought I could finally relax for a while, only to be informed that it was a pickpocket hotspot! We cut our losses and went straight to the airport and a few hours later finally made it to Athens. We had a lovely day there and then travelled to Santorini, where I had planned to propose in beautiful Oia. Very relieved to have kept the ring both safe and a secret, I found a quiet spot near the windmills looking over the sea and asked Nikita to look out so I could take a picture. When she wondered what was taking so long and turned around I was on one knee and asked if she would be my best friend forever. We both burst into tears and I assume at some point through this she said yes!

MOST EXCITED ABOUT

We can't wait to celebrate with friends and family and to have the opportunity to show our love and commitment to each other in front of those people. We hope people have a really great time as we love hosting the party!

FILM

We hope that watching it back we will be transported to the day itself. One day it would be great to be able to show our children as well!

special thanks...

a note from me...

Guys, this wedding will forever hold a special place in my heart. I honestly can’t thank you enough, and your beautiful family and friends, for welcoming me into your home and making me feel so at ease from the very start.

The colour, the outfits, and the energy from your guests were unreal, every corner of the day felt alive, vibrant, and full of personality. There were so many powerful, unforgettable moments throughout the day, the preparations, the drum entrance, the ceremony, the silent disco, where I genuinely caught myself thinking, is this really happening… is this really my job?

From start to finish, the day was nothing short of perfection. Huge congratulations to everyone involved in bringing it all together, Vijay and Vicky you were incredible hosts. You are all truly beautiful people, inside and out. From the bottom of my heart, thank you again. I hope you love reliving every moment of it. You have been absolute superstars and hopefully friends for life 💛
