VENUE

ATTIRE + ACCESSORIES

My wedding dress remains a big secret until Joe officially sees it on the day. I found my dress at Brides of Chester and I’ll also be doing a dress change in the evening around 21:30, making my entrance back into the evening room with the sax and bongos as this part of the entertainment begins. The dress code is Black Tie and Cocktail Dresses. Joe’s suit is from Cavani in Chester. He has chosen a velvet black jacket with tailored black trousers, shiny black shoes and a velvet bow tie. His waistcoat is patterned to help him stand out from the rest of the wedding party, while all of the groomsmen will wear white dress shirts with black buttons. We have opted for a winged collar for Joe and the groomsmen. The bridesmaids are wearing black bridesmaid dresses and the groomsmen are in black tie suits. We have asked all male guests to wear black tie suit jackets and trousers with white shirts and bow ties, while female guests have been asked to opt for bright or pastel cocktail dresses. We love the dress code as it fits perfectly with our venue.

We bought our wedding rings from Beaverbrook’s. I have a pear-shaped engagement ring and chose the matching diamond band as my wedding ring. Joe has opted for a gold wedding band. My wedding day jewellery was purchased from Warren James. I’ll be wearing diamond stud earrings for my second piercing and diamond droplet earrings for my first piercing. I also have a round diamond necklace with a silver chain and a matching diamond bracelet.

I saw Hawkstone Hall online and it was the first venue we came across. We booked a viewing, but I was unfortunately in hospital. Joe still went along with his mum and they fell in love with it. I came for a second viewing and it was all very emotional because we just knew it was the one. We absolutely loved how it goes from being so traditional to so modern throughout the day, and how there is a different space for each part of the day too.

STORY

On 19th September 2015, we both headed out with friends. What was going to be a normal night out soon turned into the night that changed both of our lives forever. We would both like to share a deep and romantic story here, however, it was slightly far from that considering we met in Off the Wall in Chester. If you know, you know. Luckily, despite the location, it truly was love at first sight. Well – almost! Joe’s pick-up line was, “who is that small fit one at the bar?” and after nearly walking off and ignoring him for calling me small, all was soon forgiven and that’s when the rest was history. We danced the night away and got to know one another. At the end of the night, Joe was the perfect gentleman and made sure I got into a taxi with my friend to get home safely. We exchanged numbers and have never looked back.

Joe is an Accountant Client Manager. He enjoys football and supports Brighton. He loves to play golf and will never turn down a Guinness. I’m a Child & Family Social Worker working on the Wirral. I love spending time with friends and family. Our perfect day together... this varies. We love a cosy date night at home watching movies, playing games and having a few drinks, but we also love getting dressed up and going somewhere for nice food and drinks.

MOST EXCITED ABOUT

We just can’t wait to be together and spend the day with our loved ones. We’re really looking forward to making special memories that we will treasure forever.

HONEYMOON

PROPOSAL

Straight from our venue on the Sunday, we’ll be heading to a lodge in Wales for our mini-moon. It’s in a secluded area near Barmouth with a hot tub sunken into the ground overlooking the sea. We fell in love with the idea of not going straight home after the wedding and instead soaking up the day together, just the two of us. Then, the day after my 30th in May, we’ll be heading off to Mexico for our honeymoon. We chose Mexico because we loved it when we last visited. We explored other options but kept coming back to it.

Joe planned the WHOLE day and every minute was perfect. We had only just arrived in Cape Verde the night before and woke up doing cards and presents. I opened a “Girlfriend” card and by the end of the day had a “Fiancé” card. Joe grabbed me an iced coffee to start the day whilst I FaceTimed family back at home. We then went for a walk down the beach and explored the island. We had drinks on the beach before heading back to the hotel where the room was filled with rose petals and champagne. We headed to the pool and tried the cocktails before getting ready for a surprise meal Joe had planned. We went stargazing, had a gorgeous meal on the beach under the stars, and then were taken away for a beautifully planned private proposal under the moon and stars. It was everything and more.

FILM

We just know that watching it back will bring us both to tears in the best way. We will treasure the video forever and hope to show our children, grandchildren and future generations in years to come.

EXPERIENCE

Creating a great experience for our guests was a huge part of the day. During the ceremony, we’ll have a violin player setting the tone before moving into cocktails and pictures at the drinks reception, where guests will enjoy live music from the violin player and singer while grazing on a charcuterie board prepared by the chef. I always host and provide charcuterie boards, so this felt like a special nod to that instead of traditional canapés. For the wedding breakfast, live music will continue alongside a three-course meal of parfait to start, beef wellington for mains and cheesecake for dessert. Guests will then be guided into the saloon for cocktail hour with espresso martinis, teas and coffees, accompanied by a specially created playlist. In the evening, celebrations continue with a DJ before the sax and bongos player takes over later in the night, with pizzas served around 20:30 to keep everyone going.

Jess and Joe, your day was absolute perfection. From start to finish, you have both been a delight to work with. I loved every second of capturing your film and creating it, and I hope it takes you right back to your day and reminds you of exactly how it felt every time you watch it back. Everything about your day was bang on point, and it was an honour to get to know you and capture it all. Joe, top marks to you, Graham and Ioan for the top-level speeches, they were incredible, heartfelt and so well delivered. I particularly loved the poem too, such a great touch!
