a MITTON HALL wedding |
THE BACKGROUND FROM ANGIE + LEE
VENUE
A memory chair for those who can't be with us. For the tablescape, we have white linen, candelabras entwined with eucalyptus and fairy lights, white flowers in bud vases, tea lights and personalised menus on the tables. Table names are the places where we've been on holiday together. We've given everyone a choice of their meal and they can drink red, white or rose wine. 'Mark the piano guy' is providing music for the ceremony and wedding breakfast, and he'll be roaming on his guitar on the room turnarounds, hopefully getting our guests to join in with his songs! He'll also be leading a photo dash after dessert which we hope will get people moving and be a fun way to get photos with all our guests! Our DJ will be joined by a sax player in the evening so we can have a good dance while waving glowsticks in the air (!) and there's a photobooth to capture our guests posing and pouting!
When we first visited Mitton Hall, we loved the dark wood beams, big fireplace and sparkling chandelier of the Great Hall; the south facing outdoor terrace overlooking the green fields and river Ribble; and felt the rest of the space was light, warm and relaxed, so it was the perfect blend for us! The staff are really friendly and each time we visit, the sun is shining! We also wanted somewhere we could return to to celebrate our anniversaries in years to come.
STORY
We met on Match! Lee was 'captivated' by a photograph of me steering a canal boat in a Captain's hat with a glass of fizz in hand! He messaged me saying he liked drinking red wine under the stars, just the kind of thing I love too! We continued messaging everyday for a week or so, then arranged to meet up for coffee. Since then, we've never gone a day without messaging actually. The rest, they say, is history...
I'm a CBT therapist working with adults with anxiety and depression; Lee has his own garage and loves fixing cars! I'm the thinker/ideas person and Lee is the do-er so we work well together! Lee has a lifelong love of waterpolo starting when he was 8 years old, and went on to play for Tyldesley Waterpolo Team from the age of 11. He now coaches and referees too. He also enjoys fishing in the River Ribble and last year won his families' award for the biggest catch! I've always enjoyed dancing and have done different forms over the years. Last year, we started learning latin and ballroom dancing together at one of the local dance schools. I've also started solo dancing and have entered a few 'All Nations' competitions, even winning a few awards! I also enjoy travel so have introduced Lee to skiing, something he'd never done before and has actually taught himself to do on 3 ski holidays we've had so far! Lee has introduced me to the joys of weekends away in his campervan, although I'm still not great at getting the campfire started! So our perfect day would probably be a variety of the above! A lazy morning for me, while Lee potters outside in the garden or in his shed...a walk or bike ride to a local pub where we can drink red wine with cheese...a bit of music we can dance to...and then a campfire under the stars!
ATTIRE + ACCESSORIES
We've gone for a classic, formal style. The dress? Ssshh, you'll have to wait and see! 😉 The suit - a navy tux and patent shoes. Very dashing 🙂 I love a bit of sparkle so this is reflected in my wedding ring. For my 'something borrowed' I'm borrowing one of my sister's bracelets. Lee has opted to have 2 rings so he can wear one at work and has one for best...or is he just being greedy?! 😉 Our bridesmaids and groomsmen will be in navy. As my bridesmaids are all different in age and style, I've chosen a dress that can be styled in various ways. They'll all have different bouquets too, made up of flowers that will be in my bouquet.
MOST EXCITED ABOUT
All of it! From the sincerity and romance of the ceremony and being able to call each other husband and wife, finally getting to hear my mum's speech which she's been practicing for months, our first dance, the photo dash, seeing friends and family letting loose on the dance floor...to seeing how all the planning and thought we've put into the day - all the decisions we've made, all the money we've spent, all the time and effort we've put into so many different things - comes together to create precious memories of our special day!
HONEYMOON
PROPOSAL
We're going to South Africa 3 days after the wedding as we've never been before and has a bit of everything we like and want to do - relaxing on the beach, hiking up Table Mountain, watching the sunset on Lion's Head, going on the Wine Tram and a 3 day safari! We expect to feel exhausted but happy and content as we reflect on our wedding day celebrations and all the precious memories we've made! And also excitement at the start of a new life chapter together creating new dreams and adventures!
It was Valentine's Day 2025 and Lee had arranged to take me away for a surprise weekend so I had no idea where we were going other than north! We'd hit a traffic jam on the way up so when we finally arrived at our destination, The Castle Hotel in South Cave, we had to rush to get ready for a drink in the bar before the meal. Lee asked me to sit as he played the beautiful song 'How Long Will I Love You?' (by Ellie Goulding) for me, followed by 'Your Song', which holds special meaning to Lee. I was so touched by the words but conscious that we were running late so jumped up to go and get my bag, only to turn around and find Lee on bended knee. He asked me to marry him...and of course, I said Yes! He then gave me my Valentine's Day card...addressed to his fiancée!
FILM
We love the romance and storytelling in your films - the slow motion shots of people dancing and having fun, the close ups of the details, the shots of the landscape/scenery, all to an emotive soundtrack with special words taken from the ceremony and speeches. We hope it will bring back the feelings of love and excitement from the day; the fun, laughter and celebration; and the precious moments shared with each other and our loved ones.
EXPERIENCE
We've kept it quite simple with white flowers, eucalyptus, a touch of navy and a little sparkle. For the ceremony, we have candles, petals, a heart arch of flowers my mum has made for us, flowers hanging from the skylight, and a curtain of fairy lights.
special thanks...

Angie and Lee, thank you so much for having me along to capture your incredible wedding day in the stunning Ribble Valley... or should I say the Costa del Ribble Valley! For a day in March, it genuinely felt like summer.
From the laughter and emotion to those amazing speeches, I loved every second of it. And that first dance… wow. You absolutely smashed it, I felt genuinely proud watching you both out there.
It has been such a pleasure getting to know you both. You’re truly lovely people and such a perfect match. I hope your film brings back all the love, fun, and excitement from your day for years to come.
