an arley hall wedding |
THE BACKGROUND FROM MARGO + ANDREW
VENUE
ATTIRE + ACCESSORIES
My tuxedo is from a NYC store, pretty standard fare black tux, but in the evening I'll switch to a white coat tuxedo! I love the ability to do a quick outfit change and surprise our guests with some flair! Margo has two wedding dresses. The first one being a more traditional lace dress that Andrew has not seen yet. She loves its timeless elegance and romantic allure. Margo's favourite staple of her outfit are her Manolo Blahnik shoes, as a true New Yorker, she loves a Carrie Bradshaw moment. My groomsmen will be wearing a navy blue suit with eucalyptus colored ties. The bridesmaids will wear beautiful eucalyptus color dresses by Jenny Yoo. Each one will be unique, crafted from satin and silk fabrics that they picked out together.
We made a memorable trip to Tiffany's one Sunday afternoon and got each other's wedding bands! It was a magical moment to pick out timeless and elegant pieces that we both loved. Margo will be wearing an elegant jewelled headpiece with her second dress and, of course, her engagement ring, which is a beautiful solitaire lined by baguettes. Her earrings and bracelet are elegant diamond pieces that will enhance her overall look.
Arley Hall was historically in the Warburton family (back in the 1400s), and I had visited it as a child with its beautiful garden and architecture. Given that lots of my family is in the UK and Margo's family is in Europe, this was the perfect epicenter to gather them for our fantastic day! We are really excited to see how the event comes together.
STORY
We first met in medical school in a number of group projects, and actually started a medical device company together. We were inseparable from that point on and really just clicked, professionally and personally, always pushing each other to become the best versions of ourselves. We very quickly became really good friends, with some lingering feelings of romance that we both felt from the moment we met.
We are both junior doctors in NYC. Margo is an ophthalmologist, and I am an anesthesiologist and critical care doctor. We love going to museums, traveling, catching a Broadway show, and spending time outdoors hiking, going to the beach, and swimming in the lake! We also cherish the weekends that we get to spend with each of our families. Our families have very diverse backgrounds, encompassing Chinese, English, and Belarusian traditions, and we enjoy participating in each other's cultural traditions, such as making mooncakes for the Mid-Autumn Festival.
Our perfect day is a slow morning together, waking up and taking a walk around the park, then heading to a nice brunch spot, where we can catch up and chat about our week. We laugh a lot throughout the day! We would then wander into the latest exhibit at the Met and enjoy discussing each art piece, inspiring one another. Margo typically enjoys spending extra time with the pieces she really likes. We would then spend our evening with our close friends, playing board games, eating takeout, and having an absolutely fantastic time.
MOST EXCITED ABOUT
I've looked forward to marrying Margo since the day I met her. Realizing and formalizing our love for each other with friends and family is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Our overall theme is "modern antiquity" as we're having it at Arley Hall, but we wanted to focus on earth tones given the amazing gardens of Arley!
HONEYMOON
Still planning our true honeymoon, but after the wedding, we plan on touring around the UK and Ireland to see some last family members who couldn't make it! Ultimately, we would love our honeymoon to be a blend of calm and adventure, so we're hoping to do a 5-day safari in Kenya/Tanzania followed by 5 days in the Seychelles. We are very excited, but haven't even begun planning this yet with all the wedding logistics! I'm hoping to feel truly relaxed as we begin the next chapter of our lives.
PROPOSAL
We went on a grand trip through Switzerland, Austria, and Germany in January of 2024, where we had our first European skiing adventure. I (Andrew) initially thought about proposing on the Matterhorn, but I was too scared of losing the ring on the slopes. I wanted to keep it a surprise, so when we arrived in Interlaken on Jan 12, 2024, we headed to Iseltwald pier, where I knelt on one knee and asked Margo to marry me! We went paragliding right afterwards!
FILM
Capturing the emotion of people, candids, and a lot of the background scenery would be really spectacular. We'd love the ceremony to be filmed and live-streamed so anyone who could not attend can still be with us in spirit! We want the video to be happy and upbeat, filled with laughter and cheerful moments, while capturing the elegance of the venue and the bridal party.
EXPERIENCE
We are striving to maintain a clean and upbeat atmosphere, featuring white flowers and natural green undertones. We are keeping with classic British flowers you'd see in a garden (British roses, Lily of the Valley, etc.).
We want our guests to arrive happy, grab a coffee in the morning, and head to the ceremony at 11 am. They are engaged, singing the Hymns and being a part of the prayer. Afterwards, they'll enjoy lunch, pictures, and mingling with each other and us, as well as mini golf on the lawn. In the evening, they'll gather at their tables, enjoy dinner, and dance until the night ends!
special thanks...

What a day. It was an absolute joy capturing your story from beginning to end. Thank you both for your openness, positivity, and willingness to embrace every moment, even when the English weather conditions weren’t perfect. That energy truly shines through in your film.
You’re such a beautifully matched couple, and I genuinely loved connecting with you both. A big shoutout to Ira and your amazing bridal party for all their support and effort throughout the day too. It was also an honour to witness the Salt and Bread ceremony and to experience meaningful parts of your culture, and Jenny’s cookies were unforgettable!
Thank you for trusting me to capture your memories. I’m so grateful to have been part of it. And if I’m ever in the Big Apple, I’ll be in touch for that coffee.
